The Board of Trustees of Advocacy in Barnet regretfully announce that, after 22 years the charity will cease delivering advocacy services on 31st December 2019.
This has been a very difficult decision to take, but the Board has had to face the impact of shrinking statutory funding over several years and increased competition for the limited funding that is available.
The Trustees, staff and volunteers are proud of all they have achieved over the years. An award winning charity, led by Lizzie Sturm who had the vision for the organisation from its inception, Advocacy in Barnet has provided high quality face to face advocacy for thousands of Barnet residents.
Advocacy in Barnet has enabled and empowered local people to have their say, communicate their needs and make informed choices in obtaining community and health services. We are proud of our achievements and will work over the next few months to ensure our legacy continues and wherever possible Barnet residents will continue to have access to independent advocacy services.
Whilst Advocacy in Barnet has made the decision to cease its current operations, it is seeking partners or organisations interested in continuing and developing our initiatives with the remaining funding available. Our team of skilled and committed volunteers will also be looking for new opportunities to continue their excellent advocacy and support work.
