Welcome to Advocacy in Barnet

Advocacy in Barnet offers a free, independent and confidential advocacy service to people aged 50 and over living in the London Borough of Barnet. We support YOU to ensure YOU have a voice and a choice with community and health services.
Advocacy in Barnet works to ensure that you as a service user are supported appropriately to enable you to participate in decisions that affect your life, giving you choice and control over your own life. 


Advocacy in Barnet accepts referrals from professionals and agencies such as Barnet Carers Centre, Social Workers, GPs, Dentists; family and friends of people needing help and people themselves. We will confirm with the client that they want us to work with them before taking the referral further.

Specialist Information, Advice and Advocacy Service (SIAA)

Advocacy in Barnet is delivering Advocacy under the new Care Act service to Barnet residents who are 50 years and over. Funded by the London Borough of Barnet, the Specialist Information, Advice and Advocacy Service is a free and impartial service run by Barnet CAB in partnership with Advocacy in Barnet and Barnet Mind.

50 + Matters

Advocacy in Barnet provides varied advocacy services under '50 + Matters' umbrella to older residents living in the London Borough of Barnet and in the surrounding boroughs. 50 + Matters' main aim is to improve older people's emotional, physical and financial well-being.

Barnet Macmillan Cancer Advocacy Service (BMCA)

Funded by Macmillan, Barnet Macmillan Cancer Advocacy is a 3-year project that will recruit, train and suppport people who have in the past been affected by cancer to act as advocates for Barnet residents who are / have been affected by cancer so that the latter are better equipped to understand, respond to and manage their illness and its impact on their lives.

Hospital Advocacy Service

50 + Matters provide advocacy services to older patients on wards and at the point of discharge at The Royal Free Hampstead, Edgware community and Finchley Memorial Hospitals. Advocates can support patients with moving into care homes, future care / end of life care plans, unhappy with hospital's quality of care, financial matters and more. 

Future Care Project

Future Care planners deliver awareness sessions on the 'Importance of future care planning' to Barnet, Brent, Haringey and Enfield community organisations  and one to one sessions on how to complete Advance / Future Care Plan form.

Healthwatch BarnetHealth Watch

Healthwatch is part of a new national network, led by Healthwatch England. Healthwatch Barnet was established in April 2013. It is the independent voice for Barnet residents who use health and social care services.
